Giving Through The Holidays

Teddy Bear For Christmas
I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I hope that no matter how you celebrate, you take the time to give thanks to God for the blessings he gives each of us. Regardless of what life may throw our way, we all have blessings to be acknowledged. Nothing brings a sense of peace more than when we acknowledge our blessings.

This time of year also brings to mind and heart those who are less fortunate than us. It’s important to reach out to others who are struggling. Whether it be with finances, severe family dysfunctions or those dealing with a serious illness in their family. Finding a way to ease their burdens or bring them a little joy should always be ahead of our shopping lists and food preparations.

This year, my good friend Rachel has taken on a project that brings me to tears just thinking about it. Christmas day will have Rachel and her husband Gary taking a trip to Children’s Phoenix Hospital to deliver what they hope will be 300 Teddy Bears to distribute to the many kids who are dealing with serious illnesses, and are not able to be at home for the holidays.

I cannot think of a more relevant way to spend Christmas Day. And I cannot express how much I love this dear lady. Just when I think my admiration for Rachel and her giving spirit could not be any higher, she springs a project like this on the blogworld.

In my sidebar there is a picture of a Teddy Bear, with the words Teddy Bear For Christmas beneath it. If you click on this link, it will take you to Rachel’s site, with a button to donate to the purchase of some of these special teddy bears. She also lists her home address. So if you have some barely use / like new stuffed animals your children have outgrown, send them Rachel’s way. It would be a wonderful surprise if we could beat that goal of 300 Teddy Bears to send with Rachel to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Let’s make her make 2 trips to the hospital!!!  wink (I’ll pay for the gas Rachel!) Hehehehe…

So during your busy holiday schedule, take a moment or two out of the day to donate for purchases, or gather some from your own family stash of stuffed animals to send for the kids who are not able to leave the hospital for the holidays. This special act of kindness will bless your own heart and life. And teaches our children as well, that giving is a special attribute, that we all should posess.

I wish you all a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!

Love,

3T

A Birthday

image
Go wish this gorgeous man a Happy Birthday Week! His Birthday was August 18th, but here at Stumbling / Grace we always acknowledge a Birthday Week.

No one deserves wonderful birthday wishes more than DB. He and his beautiful SO B’tude have gone thru a very hard couple of months, with the losss of his sister, and than B’tude waiting on test results to see if she had cancer. Having gone thru something similar, I know what a hard time this has been for them.

Happy Birthday DB, I hope you are still celebrating!

Much love,

3T

Moving On…

Or trying to. I am anxious to put my blatant fuax pas and all the negative crap that was born out of it behind me. Believe me if I could, I would do things a little differently.

That said, I thought I would bare a fault that I have hidden in my closet. I’m jealous. Jealous of all of you who have been to New York City and/or lived there. It is to me the pinnacle of chic and cool. So much so, that visiting New York City is on, and has been on my “To Do Before Death” wishlist for many years. Some day, I will see it, and experience some of New York City.

But for now, I’ll share a quiz that I stole from....crap, who did I steal it from? .....OK, I remember! I stole it from Amusings! (Whew! damn my memory)

The quiz is: “Where Should Your Inner New Yorker Live?” It seems I’m not quite the New York City gal I’d like to be. But then, I kind of knew this anyway. wink

If you take the quiz, leave me your results. Yes I’m nosy like that. I hope everyone is having a lazy, relaxing Sunday.

Love,

3T

You Belong in Brooklyn

Down to earth and hard working, you’re a true New Yorker.

And although you may be turning into a yuppie, you never forget your roots.

A Public Apology

I owe Dawn of A Blonde and Her Blog an apology over this political issue and the comments that were made by me on another blog. What I should have done was explain to Chatty that Dawn’s intent is never malicious. She was stating her opinion plain and simple.

Something that Dawn and I both have always felt comfortable doing on each others’ blogs regardless of our differing opinions in the political realm. Suggesting that my readers go to Chatty’s site WHATCHUTAWKINBOUT to listen to the Pink song, she felt comfortable stating her opinion on her site as well.

It is hard to discern tone and intent in the written word. And having known Dawn for many, many months, I knew her tone and intent were respectful, it was only a difference of opinion. I, instead of grandstanding on my views, and basically chastising Dawn on Chatty’s site, should have taken the time to explain to Chatty that Dawn is a good person and was only writing her opinioin in the form of a comment. She felt comfortable to do so on Chatty’s site, because she felt comfortable to do so on mine. I sent her to Chatty’s site.

Chatty’s and my politics are similar, and I enjoy that. In the process I betrayed one friendship, playing up to another. It is on this note, that I have to say I will probably not be posting my political views that often, if, ever again. My intent is never to cause discord and hard feelings. Until I feel mature enough to handle situations like this one in a more mature manner, it is best that I continue to stay away from political statements or emotional outbursts regarding politics.

So Dawn, I ask for your forgiveness, and pray that these negative feeling by, or about, any of the parties involved cease. Good will and all that good shit.

Thus ends my career as a political activist. wink (That was a joke. Laugh. Humor me, or I’ll cry)

Love,

3T

PS. I really do care about both you Dawn, and my new friend Chatty. I do hope this can be resolved without any lingering hard feelings. That’s my prayer anyway.

UPDATE

This email is from Bug, and, oh shit I’ll let her email speak for its self! grin The gist being, follow thru with your donations even if you did not get a comfirmation, as there were a few glitches in the system. So, follow Bug’s advice here. (She’s the smart one!) And one more time I want to thank everyone for their donations and time. And thank Bug again, for letting me play a small roll in advertising for her fund raising!

The admins had nothing but problems with the system this year...new platform *sigh* I’m thinkin’ the system somehow made them Anyon sponsors (there are 5 showing on my list now)...from what I gathered from talking to the people running the ‘thon that’s the default setting when a person goes in and donates so they either didn’t check the box to make them “non-anyon” or the system messed it up.. either way I’m really sorry about the mix up on their stuff...it’s been a bumpy ride the whole time with the program they are using to keep track of everything.

In order to make the actual donations they don’t have to wait for the email (which I wouldn’t at this point because who the hell knows what’s going on with that). They can visit the ACS official donation page and make their donation at anytime by going to this link:

American Cancer Society Donation Page

If anyone has any questions they can email me as well.

Bug

PS. I cut out the personal parts to me. wink

It Is Time to Draw the Winner

I haven’t forgotten that I have a $30.00 Amazon e-certificate to draw a winner for today. Those of you who are checking in, it will happen later today, after I get my errands for the day done. Tayler will draw the winner, and I’ll post all of you who donated to Bug’s Blogathon charity of choice, The American Cancer Society.

I checked in with all of the ladies often during the Blogathon, and they really did a fabulous job, keeping the posts coming every half hour. I’m in awe of those of you who had the ability to sit at the computer for 24 hours and post every half hour! I’m serious, I think that’s amazing!

There were fun interactive quizzes and trivia contests on all three of the sites I sponsored. And prizes handed out on all of them as well! A hearty and reverent Congratulations to all the Blogathon Bloggers who worked so hard to earn money for charity! I’d have to say it was a complete success! One I felt priveledged to be part of in a small way.

As Jade at Jaded Sunburns noted, there were 285 Bloggers who blogged for 24 hours raising a whopping $98,213.48 for a myriad of charities! WOW! That just makes my heart sing! (You don’t want me to really sing) Again, Congratulations to all of the Bloggers who participated in one form another. Whether a cheerleader for the bloggers or you sponsored these special people, this was one Hell of a success!  grin

Stay tuned for the drawing later today....

Love,

3T
