Little Bits of this and that
Fortunately, this Monday follows on the heels of one fantastic week! I’m not feeling moody or morose, just a tad on the tired side.
I need to send out a Big Giant Thank-You and I love you to two special and fun-loving lovely ladies! Jade and Oh Girl you made the start of my “Birthday Week”
extra happy! I had so much fun and laughter sharing last Saturday afternoon with the two of you! I really think we need to come up with something to celebrate quarterly, and get together to do it.
Saturday night, my children gave me an impromptu Birthday Party that was extra special as well. And thank you to my wonderful hubby for making sure I had AJ’s luscious carrot cake for the occasion.
Laughlin was everything we needed in it; most of which I won’t be sharing. Although I will add that Oh Girl’s Birthday gifts played a part in the festivities. We escaped the daily grind, rat race and myriad of household chores, known by me as Time Stealers. Laughlin is Our Place to hide. After the five hour road trip, the dirty white Dodge minivan is parked, and not driven again until the end of the trip. We have no meal preparations and clean up, no laundry, yardwork or corporate rat race.
We walked along the Riverwalk, enjoying the view of the Colorado river, chatting, Casino hopping and sipping drinks. Everywhere we went was on our own legs, from shopping the Outlet Malls, to savoring lobsters at the outdoor restaurant on the river. We did watch quite a few pay-per-view movies, and took late afternoon naps.
On the side of shallow? Everything my man touched turned to gold! He won and won and won and won. In the end we shopped the Outlet Malls, dined on lobsters and filet mignon, watched movies, gambled and slept, Laughlin’s treat! Thank you Laughlin!

Too much to do and deal with this week-end. Unexpected visitor spends the evening catching me up on all her escapades last night. Haven’t seen her for a while so it was nice visiting! She left around 11:00 PM last night and then we basically dropped into bed. The potato salad for todays Baby Shower didn’t get made so it’s a mad dash to get that made, get the kids cleaned up as well as myself, get the shower gift wrapped, and then getting across the Valley by 2:00 PM today. Don’t know when I’ll get back from the Shower tonight. But don’t want it to be too late.
I want to be able to drop in more then a few times on TJ at Zazzafooky as she blogs every half hour for the 2005 Blogathon! I hope everyone stops by and leaves a comment to encourage her to keep going!
I had better get moving! Also in the back of my mind, are my parents. I haven’t talked to them in over two weeks. Dad usually has Thursdays and Fridays off, and I try and call then. Well between the kids, friends, hubby and dinners etc. I have not gotten the opportunity to call them:-( So the prayers said will have to suffice, until I take the time to e-mail and give them a call this next Thursday. I think keeping in touch with ones parents is important, so this is bothering me. I’ve got to learn to prioritize better. One of these days…
Hope everyone is having a fun relaxing week-end!

Last night a Monsoon tore thru Mesa with a vengeance! It was exciting, and for the kids a little scary. The lightening lit up the windows and the thunder shook the walls! And for the first time since moving out of WA I enjoyed it! The rain was refreshing, and fun watching the lightening from our patio with the kids. Actually put me in a happy mood. How strange. I had grown to loathe the grey skies and rainy weather that was so everyday, day in and day out, in WA.
That this feeling of enjoying it is foreign to me. Well the grass will be a little greener and the orange trees received plenty of water.
I have another swimdate planned with Jenny today though. And the weather although warm, is looking a little iffy for a day of fun and sun. Might need to devise a new plan.....but what? Today is Jenny’s Birthday though, and I am surprising her with a cake to celebrate it. But how to entertain all 5 kids INSIDE has me a little nervous.
This week-end will be her baby shower as well. Not the normal run of the mill baby showers with all the cheesy games that are played. (Although they can be fun) This will include the hubbys and the kids, swimming and BYOB. Now that’s my kinda of baby shower! And I’ve no doubt all the hubbys would agree.
Well back to work. My house is always on the verge of being too cluttered for company. So I’m always last minute spot picking up and cleaning. This place is going to have to be douched if I plan on having a blogger get-together here. Which I do, so I’ll have to. Clean it, that is.

Babe, I’m leeeeeeevin’ IN a dirty white dodge van, don’t knoooow when I’ll be back again. I hate to gooooooo. NOT! (Yes I’m feelin’ goofy) That and I miss typing out lyrics! Damn you Brad!
I can’t carry a note to save my life, but YOU don’t know that if I just type them out. For all you know, I could have the voice of a nightingale. (And I’m already positive I spelled that wrong, and am far too lazy to look it up at this point)
So this is my post to let you know, you need not click over here for a week. It will be the same day after day. As the family and I head out for cooler weather! San Diego here we come, in my dirty white dodge mini-van! I probably should have typed the words to the Beverly Hillbillies, as it woulda been more appropriate. But the van isn’t really THAT dirty, and we won’t have the luggage strapped to the roof, so hopefully we won’t be too conspicuous!
The withdrawals from checking on all my favorites sites won’t be easy! I don’t have a laptop to take along with me. And if I did, I think the hubby might be more then a little irritated. So it’s probably better I won’t have one.
BUT, when I get back, I want to start planning an Arizona Bloggers Coalition party at my place! (The term AZ Bloggers Coalition stolen from Becky at April Fool, who came up with the term for the Hawaii bloggers.) Actually I am kinda looking at September for the party. When I have parties, I like them to have themes. I realize this is outdated and tacky, but it is so very the way I do things. So if anyone has any party theme ideas, be sure to let me know!

I wanted to thank Oh Girl for joining me for a late leisurely lunch this last Saturday! I had a lot of fun, sharing good food at Red Lobster, girl talk, and struggles with our role as mother in the lives of our adult children. I had lot’s of fun, and hope we can do it again soon!
When I got home, we took the kids to see War of the Worlds. The kids enjoyed it thoroughly, as did Kevin and myself. (I also managed to talk him out of dinner out that evening, which saved money for our shiny new motor in the stupid AC system!) Yeah, I’m not quite over it yet. Such is life.
