Fortunately, this Monday follows on the heels of one fantastic week! I’m not feeling moody or morose, just a tad on the tired side.
I need to send out a Big Giant Thank-You and I love you to two special and fun-loving lovely ladies! Jade and Oh Girl you made the start of my “Birthday Week”
extra happy! I had so much fun and laughter sharing last Saturday afternoon with the two of you! I really think we need to come up with something to celebrate quarterly, and get together to do it.
Saturday night, my children gave me an impromptu Birthday Party that was extra special as well. And thank you to my wonderful hubby for making sure I had AJ’s luscious carrot cake for the occasion.
Laughlin was everything we needed in it; most of which I won’t be sharing. Although I will add that Oh Girl’s Birthday gifts played a part in the festivities. We escaped the daily grind, rat race and myriad of household chores, known by me as Time Stealers. Laughlin is Our Place to hide. After the five hour road trip, the dirty white Dodge minivan is parked, and not driven again until the end of the trip. We have no meal preparations and clean up, no laundry, yardwork or corporate rat race.
We walked along the Riverwalk, enjoying the view of the Colorado river, chatting, Casino hopping and sipping drinks. Everywhere we went was on our own legs, from shopping the Outlet Malls, to savoring lobsters at the outdoor restaurant on the river. We did watch quite a few pay-per-view movies, and took late afternoon naps.
On the side of shallow? Everything my man touched turned to gold! He won and won and won and won. In the end we shopped the Outlet Malls, dined on lobsters and filet mignon, watched movies, gambled and slept, Laughlin’s treat! Thank you Laughlin!
On Thursday, although I had won a modest amount at Roulette, I wanted to hit a couple of hundred all at once like Kevin did. He told me which machine to play, and within 5 minutes I hit $200.00. He directed me to the machine behind it and I hit $240.00 on that one within a couple of minutes. It was a refreshing and new experience winning at basically what is considered a losing proposition. It added a fun flavor and excitement to the trip.
Normally we come home minus whatever we go up there with cash wise. This trip, we were able to bring it back, putting it away for our next getaway. Winners for a change, unless you count the half dozen prior trips we have left our money behind. Gambling is not always for everyone, but Kevin and I enjoy it, and look at what we spend (set limits) as our “entertainment money.”
We came home a day earlier then we had planned, to ease back into life, before the Rug Rats returned from their dads. Not being a person who transitions easily and quickly, I’m glad we did. The early departure is probably what insured bringing our entertainment money home. We were also able to enjoy going to the Phoenix Home and Garden Show with our friends Bill and Rishelle. I have my eyes on some granite countertops soon I think…
Kids came home Sunday night in good spirits, instead of the normal amount of chaos that follows the parent drop offs. I can truly appreciate smooth transitions and the Blessings that they are.
I hope everyone had a good week, and an even better week-end! Thank you to all of you who left me Happy Birthday comments, I love you!
To my brother in law Jimmy and his wife Barb, as well as Michael, thank you for the Birthday cards! That was very thoughtful of you! And Jimmy the note you wrote in it touched your brother and I very much.We send our love to you Barb and Aubrey. Thank you mom and dad for the beautiful robe! I loved it and know I will be in it a lot this winter! So this wraps up another year, and I really couldn’t have asked for a better way to end it. Well an eye lift wouldn’t have hurt, but being a wuss where pain is concerned, and a tightwad where money is concerned, I can live with the eyes God gave me for now.
Close it Up
