I find it disturbing that 20-some-odd years later, your soon-to-be daughter-in-law has the same hairstyle as you did...please tell me the farrah do isn’t coming back? I couldn’t take it.
Feel free to ignore completely what I have to say. I have a bias as a former photographer who was asked many times to photograph friends’ weddings. I always refused because I didn’t want to mess up the pictures and mess up the relationship with friends or family int he process. But with that said, I don’t think they are being fair to you in asking you to take the official pictures. How can you, as the mother of the groom, enjoy and experience the day if you are taking all the wedding photos? And who will take the pictures that the mother of the groom needs to be in? Wedding photos by a professional are a significant expense, but there is a reason for that. To do it well, and deal with all the people involved on a stressful day for the wedding party, is not easy.
If you have the means, I’d pay someone else to take the photos as a wedding gift to the couple. That won’t stop you from taking your camera and taking some of your own photos. I’ve done that before and got some photos I really liked, but they were extras, a bonus, and generally more candid, less formal pictures that gave a different look that the more formal portaits. It takes the pressure off you for the photos and ensures that there are multiple photos that you get to be in with your son and new daughter in-law.
You should get to enjoy the day too as a proud mother.
Good luck with the day, whatever you do and congratulations!

Congrats on that to you and to them. You can’t miss taken good shots of those two!
That’s a great baby shot Teri! And I’m sure the pictures you take will be more than perfect; as well as personal.
Congrats T!!!!! That’s wonderful news and I am positive you will take great pictures of them
You’ll do a great job. Cangrats!
Wow, that’s big news!
I know you’ll do a terrific job for them on their happy day.

My baby just got his driving permit and I can barely handle that!
You sound very calm for a mom who is about to see her baby boy get married off. Congratulations!

Congrats to your son! I agree with The G-Man. I think I’d be way too nervous to photograph a wedding of a friend or family member.
What a cute couple! I’m sure you’ll do just fine and will be far easier to work with:)
I’m sure you will do a wonderful job! Congrats to you son and his fiance. Weddings are so beautiful! I with them the best!
